‘Complete Failure As A Father’: Bobby Jindal Publishes ‘Sermon’ Blaming Oregon Shooter’s Father

Instead of blaming the UCC shooter’s mother who taught him how to shoot and who stockpiled guns, Bobby Jindal slams the shooter’s gun-control supporting father.

The man who walked into an expository writing class and shot and killed nine people at Umpqua Community College last Thursday was a self-described “loner,” and “conservative republican.” He also shared his mother’s fondness for guns, which is why between the arsenal he brought with him and the one stockpiled in the one bedroom apartment he shared with her, there were 14 guns in total.

The shooter’s mother believed that guns would be confiscated across America, so she bought as many as she could afford, and was an open-carry supporter.

“I keep two full mags in my Glock case. And the ARs & AKs all have loaded mags,” Laurel Harper wrote in an online forum, the New York Times reported. “No one will be ‘dropping’ by my house uninvited without acknowledgement.”

Ian Mercer, the shooter’s father, divorced for many years from the shooter’s mother, rhetorically asked CNN, “How was he able to compile that kind of arsenal?” He called for change, saying that if his son “had not been able to get hold of” so many guns, “this wouldn’t have happened.”

This afternoon, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal decided he had had enough, and posted what he labeled a “sermon” on his campaign website, attacking Ian Mercer as “the problem,” “a complete failure as a father” who “should be embarrassed to even show his face in public,” someone who “should be ashamed of himself,” who “owes us all an apology.”

“This killer’s father is now lecturing us on the need for gun control and he says he has no idea how or where his son got the guns,” Jindal callously states. 

In a blog post titled “We fill Our Culture With Garbage, And We Reap The Result,” Jindal wrote “someone needs to speak the truth for a change,” insisting these mass “shootings are a symptom of deep and serious cultural decay in our society.”

“These acts of evil are a direct result of cultural rot, and it is cultural rot that we have brought upon ourselves, and then we act like we are confounded and perplexed by what is happening here.” 

“Another week, another mass shooting, another press conference by the President lecturing us on the need for gun control, and now Hillary and Obama are in a race to see which of them can be the most extreme in trying to destroy the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. Rinse and repeat.”

Jindal goes on to blame the glorification of “sick and senseless acts of violence in virtually every element of our pop culture,” all genres of “movies and TV shows,” “music,” “video games,” the celebration of “every kind of deviant behavior,” and anti-bullying efforts.

The Republican governor who is polling in the single digits and will likely drop out of the GOP presidential race soon, warns that “tens of millions of young boys … will never become real men because they have no values whatsoever.”

For good measure, Jindal was sure to use the term “politically incorrect” and to take a good swipe at liberals and those who support gun control.

“Meanwhile, the shallow and simple minded liberals will continue to blame pieces of hardware for the problem, and they will long for the days before firearms were invented.”
