UPDATED: 10 Confirmed Dead In Umpqua Community College Shooting – Gunman Was 20 Year Old Male

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown just announced a 20-year old male was responsible today for the deaths of 13 people at Umpqua Community College.

At 7:54 PM ET the New York Times reports “Sheriff John Hanlin of Douglas County said that the gunman killed 10 people and wounded seven, adjusting initial reports from law enforcement officials, which counted 13 dead and 20 injured.”

Thirteen people have been confirmed dead, Oregon Governor Kate Brown announced minutes ago at a short press conference. The Governor also announced the shooter is deceased and was a 20-year old male.

 

The Oregon Attorney General’s office confirmed the number of dead.

There are also about 20 wounded victims being treated at area hospitals. No other details about the victims or the shooter have been made available as of this report.

CNN reports a “law enforcement official told CNN four guns believed to have belonged to the suspect were recovered at the scene. Investigators are also looking at social media postings they believe the shooter made, a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN.”

At about 10:38 AM local time, authorities had received a 911 call of a possible shooting at the community college.
