Watch: New Tide Commercial Mocks Kim Davis And Other Religious Anti-Gay Extremists

Tide is bold enough to make this pro-gay commercial, but are they brave enough to air it on television?

Tide does it again! Last year, they ran an ad featuring two gay men bickering about buying the wrong laundry detergent. It was a cute commercial shining a light on the more domesticated side of same-sex relationships. Now they just released another video mocking anti-gay, religious fundamentalists… more specifically, people like Kim Davis, the Kentucky County Clerk that refuses to marry same-sex couples.

“First a clerk in Kentucky, and now a church lady in Los Angeles!,” says director Mark Nickelsburg.

The hilarious new commercial shows two gay men holding hands and walking towards a church to get married. Just before entering, they are stopped by a religious woman who is determined to stop them from entering the church. “How offensive!” she cries. “I won’t let you blemish the sanctity of marriage.” Then, the big twist comes, which is sure to make you smile.

The commercial was filmed at St.Albans in Westwood and it features performances by Matt Marr, Karl Ramsey, and Lynne Marie Stewart. The video was posted on Nickelsburg’s Facebook account on September 8.

UPDATE: So, Here’s Why You Won’t Be Seeing That Viral Tide Ad That Mocks Kim Davis On Your TV

Now the big question is whether or not Tide will actually air the commercial on national television. The company received criticism last year when the previous gay ad only aired in Canada. A petition to get that commercial aired in the United States received over 2,000 signatures on a Change.org petition.

“The American public was clearly ready for Procter & Gamble to embrace its gay and gay-friendly consumers like many of its competitors already had,” the petition states, “but to date, this industry leader has not responded to a single media or consumer inquiry about their decision. It just doesn’t add up:  Why would P & G come out in support of marriage equality for their American employees, then deny that same demographic equal representation in the media?

What do you think? Will Tide take a bold step and air the commercial in the United States? Let us know in the comments section below.
