Watch: Kim Davis Talks About Her Meeting With The Pope On ABC News

Kim Davis says she met with Pope Francis and explains on “Good Morning America” what their meeting was like.

Despite the Vatican refusing to confirm or deny if Pope Francis met with Kim Davis, the Rowan County clerk this morning gave an exclusive interview to ABC News, detailing what she says it was like to meet the Holy Father.

“I was crying. I had tears coming out of my eyes,” Davis says. “I’m just a nobody, so it was really humbling to think he would want to meet or know me.”

Davis’ attorney says the meeting took place just after the Pope delivered his address to Congress last Thursday.

“I put my hand out and he reached and he grabbed it, and I hugged him and he hugged me,” Davis told ABC News’ Paula Faris, who also interviewed Davis last week. “And he said, ‘thank you for your courage.’”

“He told me before he left, he said, ‘stay strong.’ That was a great encouragement. Just knowing that the pope is on track with what we’re doing, it kind of validates everything to have someone of that stature,” Davis said.

UPDATE – Breaking: Vatican Now Confirms Kim Davis Met With The Pope

“I’ve weighed the cost and I’m prepared to do whatever it takes, even jail,” she said. “It’s still the same battle, we just have some more fighting with us now.”

Davis, who continues to refuse to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, may still be sent back to jail. She has several lawsuits and motions pending and rulings may be handed down at any time.
