So, Here’s Why You Won’t Be Seeing That Viral Tide Ad That Mocks Kim Davis On Your TV

The Tide ad that’s gone viral over the past 24 hours – the one mocking Kim Davis and the religious right? Well, here’s why you won’t see it on your TV…

“How offensive!,” the somewhat matronly church lady in her dated blue suit tells the same-sex couple as they’re about to make their way up the church steps to marry. “I won’t let you blemish the sanctity of marriage,” she exclaims.

The rest is what makes this awesome Tide commercial a viral social media sensation, garnering nearly 700,000 views on director Mark Nickelsburg’s Facebook page, mostly in the past few days.

Sadly, it’s a commercial you’ll never see on TV, despite its mocking of Kim Davis and other anti-gay bigots, or, as Nickelsburg himself wrote, “First a clerk in Kentucky, and now a church lady in Los Angeles!”

Why?

It’s not a Tide commercial.

Or, more specifically, as most who didn’t see the word “spec” in the description of the ad, it’s not an ad, it’s a mock ad done in the hopes of Tide, or Tide’s corporate parent, Proctor & Gamble, falling in love with it and picking it up.

The experts at Adweek noted it was “spec work,” but add, “it would be smart for Tide to use this excitement to finally roll out its current ad featuring a gay couple in the U.S.”

Indeed!

The actor on the left, Matt Marr, tell NCRM it was a “joy to do.”

Considering all the kudos the “ad” has given Tide and P&G, they really should run it – and pay for it!

Another reason Tide should pick it up?

The Fox News contributor who says gays are like ISIS, except for the killing part, hates it:
