Kim Davis Taking Rest Of Week Off To Read ‘Boxes Of Letters Expressing Support And Prayers’

Kim Davis won’t be back in the office until Monday, Until then she’s catching up on her mail.

Kim Davis won’t be returning to her office this week. The Rowan County clerk released from jail for contempt of court Tuesday afternoon has decided to “rest with her family and return to work on Monday,” according to a statement from her attorneys at Liberty Counsel.

Davis says she is “overwhelmed that people took the time out of their busy lives to write and tell me that they are standing with me.”

“I am deeply moved by all those who prayed for me. All I can say is that I am amazed and very grateful. I am enjoying spending time with my husband, my family, and my three dogs. I have also been spending time reading boxes of letters expressing support and prayers from people around the country,” Davis says.

Clearly, the boxes of mail were highly edited before being handed over to Davis, since she actually has little support among the American populace. Just one in four likely voters think Davis should be allowed to disobey the law and not issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

“I love God, love people, and love my work. I hope we will continue to respect these values and that America remains a place where all three can live in harmony,” Davis says.

How harmonious will Monday be?

Well, for starters, five of her six deputy clerks are issuing marriage licenses to all couples regardless of gender. Davis and her attorneys believe those licenses “aren’t worth the paper they’re written on,” so Monday will be interesting.

Davis’ attorney, hate group head Mat Staver yesterday said that issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples is against the laws of Kentucky – Staver still believes same-sex marriage is illegal in Kentucky – and a crime, so Monday will be interesting.

Judge Bunning, who put Davis behind bars a week ago, stated yesterday he would again cite Davis for contempt if she in any way interferes with her deputy clerks issuing marriage licenses. That conceivably could mean jail again.

“I have no doubt that God answers prayer. God is so real to me. He has transformed my life,” Davis continued in her statement.

“I tell the ladies who I visit in jail, ‘Jesus is a gentleman.’ You have to invite Him into your life. But once you fall in love with Jesus Christ, a different world opens.”

On Monday, Rowan County and the country will learn if Davis intends to uphold the law.
