Kim Davis Suggests Only Christians Have ‘Valid’ Religious Liberty Arguments (Video)

Kim Davis revealed an exceptionally shallow ability to understand religious liberty arguments for anyone who’s not a Christian.

Having spent months waving the flag of “religious liberty,” and having spent six days in jail for contempt of court, Kim Davis surprisingly was unable to apply her own argument of religious liberty to conceive how non-Christians could also have “valid” religious liberty claims in similar situations – thus making her claims invalid.

“The argument on the other side is, ‘Well, if we’re going to give a religious accommodation to someone like Kim Davis then we’re going to give a religious accommodation to an untold number of people,” Megyn Kelly explained to Davis in her Wednesday Fox News interview, offering hypothetical examples of Catholics and Muslims who might claim the right to religious accommodations also.

“Can you understand that argument?”

Davis could not, nor could she offer a reason why a religious accommodation might be “valid” for any non-Christian, even a Catholic.

“Other religions,” Kelly proffered, “have their own definitions of marriage, and their own beliefs of who can and cannot marry. The critics say, this is a slippery slope, if we’re going to bend the law or rules for one person with one set of objections, we’re going to have to do it for a bunch of people with others.”

“So you have millions of Christians who object to the whole same-sex marriage issue,” Davis responded. “Are their rights invalid? Are their rights not worth anything?”

Kelly did not bring up the constitutional issues of equal protection, which was the basis of the Supreme Court’s marriage ruling.

Davis repeatedly throughout her interviews has been unable to express the slightest bit of empathy for anyone but herself – especially for LGBT people.

Joe Jervis observed that Davis “evaded Megyn Kelly’s direct questions on whether non-Christians should get the same religious accommodations she is demanding.”

Hemant Mehta, the Friendly Atheist, notes that “Davis thinks that if the numbers are on her side (and they aren’t), civil rights no longer matter.” He adds, what “was most frustrating to me was the smugness with which Davis gave every answer. Because she’s a Christian, she can do no wrong. She thinks she’s above the law. She thinks a huge injustice was done to her.”
