Support For Kim Davis Among Likely Voters Is Less Than You Probably Think

All the support GOP presidential candidates have given Kim Davis is not going to win them huge support from voters.

Given all the attention she’s received from Fox News and every other cable news outlet, plus Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, and Rand Paul, the average person might assume Kim Davis has a great deal of support. They would be wrong.

Rasumssen, the right-wing polling firm, just released a poll of 1000 likely voters.

Just 26 percent support Kim Davis, or any public elected official, defying a federal judge’s order based on her religious beliefs.

And a very large majority, 66 percent, “think the official should carry out the law as the federal court has interpreted it.”

Here’s how the questions were asked:

Should an elected local official be able to ignore a federal court ruling that he or she disagrees with for religious reasons, or should that official carry out the law as the federal court has interpreted it?”

If an elected local official refuses to honor a federal court decision for religious reasons, should that official be removed from office, jailed and fined, or should no disciplinary action be taken?”

Gov. Huckabee may have tied his sleigh to Kim Davis’ cause, and it will no doubt endear him to his evangelical base, but that’s support he would have had without her.
