Breaking: Same-Sex Couple Who Filed Suit Against Kim Davis Are First To Get Marriage License
A same-sex couple denied multiple times by Kim Davis and her office is the first to get a marriage license in Rowan County, Kentucky.
James Yates and William Smith, Jr. sued Kim Davis for being refused a marriage license six times since July. They also asked the Rowan County Attorney to file a charge of official misconduct against Davis. This morning, just after 8:00 AM, the couple, together nine years, finally were able to obtain a marriage license, becoming the first couple — same-sex or different-sex — to do so in Rowan County since the Supreme Court ruled same-sex couples have a civil right to marriage.
