Attention-Seeking Kim Davis Fanboy Judge Crusades For Right To Not Issue ‘Sodomy’ Licenses

An Alabama probate judge who is refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples is demanding legal protection from the state supreme court.

Last month Probate Judge Nick Williams filed an emergency petition (below) with Judge Roy Moore‘s Alabama state supreme court demanding it “issue a landmark ruling” nullifying the U.S. Supreme Court’s marriage decision in Obergefell. Clearly, Judge Williams has a unique grasp of American jurisprudence, so it should come as no surprise that this week Judge Williams took another step away from convention by asking the state supreme court to protect him from having to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

More specifically, as Judge Williams wrote in a petition filed by his attorney, the “jailing of Kentucky clerk Kimberly B. Davis put at immediate risk the liberty interest of all faithful and religiously sincere public officials in Alabama whose office has responsibility for making decisions as to whether to give sanction and honor to homosexual relationships to include the issuance of a license to engage in sodomy.”

And Williams, who is also an associate pastor at Rivers Baptist Church, labeled the SCOTUS June marriage decision “utter fantasy.”

Williams’ attorney, Jack Hinton, told AL.com that the Supreme Court’s Obergefell ruling “effectively criminalizes” religious beliefs. “Does he have to check his religious freedom at the door?,” Hinton posited.

The ACLU of Alabama calls Judge Williams’ petition “a dying gasp.”

Earlier this year, when same-sex marriage became legal in Alabama, Williams refused to issue marriage licenses, saying, “I’m not worried about following the US constitution.”

Here’s Williams speaking in June at a rally organized by Sanctity of Marriage Alabama:
