Another Couple Who Sued Kim Davis Just Got Their Marriage License
Another same-sex couple, one of four plaintiff couples, just received their marriage license after Kim Davis was jailed yesterday.
On July 1, two same-sex and two different-sex couples sued Kim Davis after the Rowan County clerk decided she would not allow any couples to receive a marriage license because same-sex marriage conflicts with her religious views. Last month, another same-sex couple who had been refused a marriage license several times, James Yates and William Smith, Jr., sued Davis. This morning, with Davis jailed for contempt, Yates and Smith received their marriage license.
Just after noon today, one of the four plaintiff couples who sued Davis also applied for and received their marriage license.

Dr. April Miller and Karen Roberts, together 11 years, attempted to obtain their license on Tuesday but were refused. It was the third time they had been rebuffed.
“We felt humiliated,” Roberts said. “Marginalized,” Miller said.

Miller said she is “so sorry that it took a federal judge to get compliance,” and that it’s made her “really sad.”
Earlier, the second same-sex couple to apply for a marriage license today received it, but amid protestors calling them “perverts” and telling them they are going to hell.
