Transgender Woman Murdered Near Church Parking Lot – Attacker Drove Over Her Body Multiple Times
A transgender woman is dead after a driver repeatedly ran over her body near a Kansas City, Missouri church parking lot.
Police are currently investigating whether or not the Saturday killing of Tamara Dominguez was a hate crime. Witnesses say the attacker drove a black Chevy Avalanche, and according to KCTV police say the driver ran over Dominguez’s body at least two or three times after initially striking her. Family members didn’t recognize the vehicle, and they have no idea who Dominguez may have been with.
Flowers from friends and family members were placed at the crime scene. A GoFundMe page has also been created to raise money for the funeral service and to send Dominguez’s body to her family in Mexico. Â
NEW:Â Petition Calls On White House To Investigate Murders Of Transgender Women Of Color
Dominguez is the latest victim in a string of horrific murders targeting the transgender community. At least seven trans women (Amber Monroe, India Clarke, K.C.Haggard, Elisha Walker, Kandis Capri, Ashton O’Hara, and Tamara Dominguez) have been murdered since last month, bringing the total up to at least 17 known incidents this year.
Late July, video surveillance caught several people walking over to look at transgender woman, K.C.Haggard, after she was stabbed. None of the bystanders bothered to help and it took twenty minutes before anyone even called the police.
Jamilah King wrote a thorough piece profiling 25 trans women of color killed over the last 2 years. It’s eye opening and you can read it here: 25 Trans Women of Color Have Been Killed in 2 Years. That May Be the Tip of the Iceberg.
