Ted Cruz’s Favorite Anti-Gay Couple Sets Up New Shop: An Anti-Gay Hate Ministry
Ted Cruz has been using an Iowa couple who shuttered their wedding business rather than let gay people marry. Now, they have a new vocation.
Last month Ted Cruz released a video of him speaking with an Iowa couple who decided to stop renting their art gallery and bistro out for weddings after they refused to let a same-sex couple marry there in 2013. They were sued, and lost, and decided to close up shop.
But now Mennonite Christians Dick and Betty Odgaard have a new vocation: an anti-gay hate ministry, God’s Original Design Ministry.
Yes, the couple will now spend their days trying to raise funds so they can raise 1000 billboards across America proclaiming the word of their God: that marriage is only comprised of one man and one woman.
The first billboard is already up. They say it was “funded 100% by the your generous donations,” which is interesting since their fundraising page up until yesterday had taken in just $153. Today, after several news stories, Â it’s doubled, to $306.
In his shameless video, Cruz slams “mandatory gay marriage.” He claims “the Odgaards livelihood has been taken away by this liberal fascism, this extreme view that if you hold a biblical teaching of marriage that is the union of one man and one women that the modern Democratic Party will persecute you and try to drive you out of civilized society.”Â
The Odgaards on their fundraising page say they “are hoping to turn their personal loss into confident hope and fearless courage for others to remain faithful to their religious convictions, and to our nation, by educating the masses.”
They’ll start with “drive-time epiphanies†using billboards (stationary and aerial), with the goal of 1,000 billboards (1,000 points of light) nationwide. All other forms of broadcast and social media will be employed, as funds become available.
That $306 is going to be spread mighty thin.
