Reports: Duggars Pitching New Show Starring Jim Bob And Michelle As Childhood Sex Abuse Counselors

Reports claim the Duggars are trying to capitalize on their experiences dealing with Josh’s molestation of five young girls.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar as Christian counselors of childhood sexual abuse victims?

The Duggar mom and dad reportedly are pitching the reality TV show concept to TLC, after the network canceled their top-rated “19 Kids and Counting” series in the wake of son Josh‘s molestation scandal.

Now the family is trying to capitalize on their experience, according to several reports.

Raw Story’s David Edwards reports the Duggars are reportedly “pitching a new show to the TLC Network about providing Christian counseling to victims of childhood sexual abuse.”

Edwards cites Michael Stone at Progressive Secular Humanist, who writes that “the Duggars are pitching the idea of a new reality show related to the upcoming special Breaking the Silence, a documentary on child sexual abuse scheduled to air August 30 on TLC.” Stone also cites reports, stating “the Duggars are hoping to launch a spin-off show relating to the upcoming documentary.”

He adds that “US magazine reports TLC has been working closely with the Duggar family on the one-hour documentary that will include daughters Jill and Jessa as well as other survivors and families that have been affected by abuse.”

StarPulse quotes an unnamed source who claims the Duggars “know they have to at least pretend to be sorry about what happened, and now they want a spin-off where Jim Bob and Michelle would give advice to abuse victims — even though they’re still in denial about their culpability in Josh’s crimes.”

Could it be true?

And why would anyone believe a major TV cable network would cast a huge and controversial family with a child abuse scandal in its past as the stars of a reality TV series?…

Another reason, as one branding expert revealed last month: the Duggars are losing an estimated $25 million annually in licensing fees and salaries as reality show stars, along with “royalties, sponsorships and speaking engagements.”
