Police in Toronto investigating the Ashley Madison hack reveal already two people apparently have committed suicide over the hack.
When hackers known as the Impact Team last month stole the personal information of over 30 million users of the online adultery website Ashley Madison, no doubt millions were worried. The hackers last week posted that very specific personal information on the dark web, exposing the names, addresses, telephone numbers, credit card numbers, and even sexual interests of about 32 million Ashley Madison users.
The first celebrity caught in the Ashley Madison hack scandal of course was “19 Kids and Counting” star Josh Duggar, who later blamed his infidelities on pornography and Satan, then changed his apology to remove those “causes.”
But today Toronto, Canada police told reporters that two people who are somehow associated with the hack, have apparently committed suicide, as the BBC reports.
“The ripple effect of the Impact Team’s actions have and will continue to have a long-term social and economic impacts, and they have already sparked spinoffs of crimes and further victimization,” acting staff superintendent Bryce Evans of the Toronto Police Dept. told reporters at a press conference today. “As of this morning, we have two unconfirmed reports of suicides that are associated because of the leak of Ashley Madison’s customer profiles.”
No further information on the suicides was made available.
