Peoria Priest Spams Town With Letter Warning Of ‘Homosexual Culture War,’ Calls It A Public Service

A Roman Catholic priest says he has authority “over” not just Catholics but his entire town, so he is performing a public service by warning them all about same-sex marriage.

Virulently anti-gay Catholic priest Timothy Sauppé has decided it is his responsibility to protect his town of Westville, Illinois from the “homosexual culture war” being waged over same-sex marriage.

“I am Fr. Sauppé, pastor of St Mary’s Catholic Ch & the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!,” a letter mailed to all residents in his ZIP code begins. “The US Supreme Court has issued a new ‘civil right’ recognizing same-sexed ‘marriages.'”

As head of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, part of the Peoria, Illinois diocese, Father Sauppé says he used church funds to send the letter.

Sauppé then tells his fellow citizens that “it seems” there is also “a Constitutional civil right not to condone” same-sex marriage, an  odd wording at best. And Sauppé also claims “that children have a natural right to a mother & a father at the same time (if at all possible) and are not to be used as pawns in the homosexual culture war.”

What that even means is beyond comprehension.

But then Father Sauppé says, “the Grace of Jesus Christ can help anyone and everyone to live a holy life—regardless of orientation! I invite all to repent & to live a holy life & to worship God on Sunday—either at St. Mary’s or a church of your choice! If you have no church or want to learn more about defending your children, your family, and your faith please call 267-3334 & may God Bless!”

Fr. Sauppé says he was “doing the public a service by letting people of goodwill know that they have the right to not to condone same-sex marriage,” Commercial-News reports. “As pastor, I’m not only over Catholics, but I’m over everyone within my parish boundaries and a lot of those people don’t know about the other side to this issue.”

Clearly, Fr. Sauppé is mistaken about many issues, including the extent of his authority “over” the people of Westville.

Sauppé’s letter is far from his only entrance in the “homosexual culture war.” He has written an extensive, raving, ugly attack – an article he says is about to be published. It’s called, “Identifying & Preparing For The Homosexualist Agenda.”
