Lawmaker Who Faked His Own Gay Sex Scandal Cherry Picks From Bible To Defend His Job

Todd Courser, the Michigan state lawmaker who tried to plant his own fake gay sex scandal to take focus away from his real straight sex scandal is now quoting the Bible, selectively, in an attempt to keep his job.

One Michigan state representative is taking the concept of religious liberty to new heights.

Todd Courser tried to get a top aide to send an anonymous email to prominent state Republicans claiming he had been caught behind a Lansing nightclub having sex with a male prostitute. Why would anyone do this to themselves? Because Courser was having an affair with a female fellow lawmaker and he wanted to take the focus away from it. Courser also thought if he planted enough strange and conflicting “information” it would discredit the credible news stories.

Now that the name Todd Courser has become synonymous with hypocrisy, one might think he would resign in disgrace.

Resigning is not the chosen path for this anti-gay Tea Party “family values” end times Republican who cited scripture and religion when opposing same-sex marriage while in the middle of his illicit affair.

Now, after explaining his actions – which he says are in response to attacks on him by the Michigan “Mafia” – and refusal to resign, Courser has taken to Facebook to solicit sympathy.

And yes, he’s citing scripture once again.

“I am now the poster boy for those who would say ‘God is dead,’ or ‘Christians are failures,’ or ‘Christians are hypocrites,'” Courser admits.

“Instantly I have been shown to be a hypocrite in my life, a liar, a laughable joke; much if not all of that is presently justified,” he acknowledges.

“But in spite of all of that I am a Christian and I am a follower of Christ, and my failures in no way reduce or negate God’s promises; no unfortunately they showcase Him and His promises –both positive and negative.”

Courser says the “most brutal things I have had to endure in my life have been brought from and thru this experience – the public humiliation was small and insignificant when compared to having telling my wife and children and my family,” and he adds, “death will be a much richer reward, a much easier mantle, than having to share all of this.”

Some of the Bible passages Courser chose to defend himself:

John 8:7 “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him cast a stone at her.”

Romans 3:10-11 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.”

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life thru Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Hemant Mehta, the Friendly Atheist, notesCourser admits to being a hypocrite. But it’s okay, he says, because Jesus.”

JoeMyGod explains Courser’s “lengthy word salad,” sarcastically writing, “like his married lover and fellow devotee of Christ Himself, Courser says he won’t resign. And shut up anyway because everybody has fucking sinned against Jesus.”

Facebook readers were quick to comment too:

Several others chose to quote the Old Testament.
