‘Hope Your Baby Girl Is Ready For A Good Time’: Frat Suspended After Posting Harassing Signs (Video)

An Old Dominion University frat has been suspended after posting harassing signs “welcoming” parents’ “freshmen daughters.”

The Old Dominion University chapter of Sigma Nu fraternity in Norfolk, Virginia has been suspended by its national leadership after news reports broke that members who live off campus posted sexually harassing, offensive, and suggestive banners.

“Rowdy and Fun. Hope your baby girl is ready for a good time,” read one. “Freshman daughter drop off,” with an arrow pointing to the building’s front door read another. “Go ahead and drop off mom too,” urged a third.

“Such language has no place in our Fraternity or within any caring community, such as that of ODU. Any Fraternity member found to be responsible for this reprehensible display will be held accountable by the Fraternity,” said Brad Beacham, Sigma Nu Fraternity’s Executive Director in a statement.

ODU President John R. Broderick sent a letter to students, faculty, and staff, calling the banners “offensive” and noting the school’s “zero tolerance” policy.

“A young lady I talked to earlier today courageously described the true meaning of the hurt this caused. She thought seriously about going back home,” Broderick wrote. “But she was heartened, she explained, when she saw how fellow students were reacting to this incident on social media. She realized this callous and senseless act did not reflect the Old Dominion she has come to love.”

Jezebel, one of the first to report on the story, sarcastically noted that the images “of the helpful offers to fornicate with women across multiple generations in the university community have since gone viral.”

One Twitter user scripted this statement, presumably in hope the fraternity would use it:

They have not, although the banners have been removed.
