16 Year Old Girl Stabbed At Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade Dies

Shira Banki, the 16-year old girl who was stabbed at Thursday’s gay pride parade in Jerusalem, has succumbed to her wounds.

On Thursday several thousand people attended Jerusalem’s gay pride parade. It was relatively peaceful and joyous, until Yishai Schlissel allegedly started stabbing people. There were six victims, some treated at the scene, some transported to the hospital. One, a 16-year old girl named Shira Banki, was critically wounded. She died today in the hospital of her wounds.

Yishai Schlissel had just been released from prison weeks earlier, serving 10 years of a 12 year sentence for stabbing three people at Jerusalem’s 2005 gay pride parade.

Schlissel reportedly had made threats before his release, and after, but before the parade, “distributed hand-written anti-gay pamphlets calling the LGBT rally ‘shameful’ and ‘blasphemous,'” the International Business Times reported.

The ultra-orthodox Jew wrote: “It is incumbent upon every Jew to risk beatings or imprisonment and together to stop the desecration for the sanctity of His name. If we refrain from declaring war, they’ll feel free to spread this shame all over the world.”

He also gave interviews to media outlets heaping scorn on the gay parade.

An LGBT advocacy group, Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance, had organized the pride event, the Washington Blade reports.

“The LGBTQ community in Jerusalem and the Jerusalem Open House mourn her death at the hands of a fanatic, consumed with hatred and fear. The knife that fatally injured Shira was sharpened by years of incitement,” the group said in a statement in response to Shira Banki’s death. “That knife targeted all those who believe in a just society, where every woman and man can live freely, without fear of violence and persecution. That knife has wounded all those who believe in life and in God’s creation.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement, “Shira was murdered for courageously supporting the principle that each and every person has the right to live their life in security and respect.”

“We will not allow this loathsome murderer to undermine the basic values upon which the Israeli society is based. We staunchly condemn this attempt to sew the seeds of hatred and violence among us and will act to bring the murderer to justice,” he added.

Jerusalem’s mayor also denounced the “murder of this young girl at the Gay Pride Parade on the streets of Jerusalem.”

“We will continue to allow full freedom of expression in this city, we will continue to support all groups and communities, we will enhance education and tolerance for others in our school system, and we will not be deterred by those who are trying to prevent it,” Mayor Nir Barkat said.

The police have come under fire for not foreseeing the possibility Schlissel would strike again.

FAKE NEWS OR RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA OR BOTH?

Twitter Locks Kayleigh McEnany Out of Her Account After Spreading Fake News

Twitter has locked White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany‘s personal Twitter account.

An official Trump campaign account shows a notice purportedly from the social media company addressed to McEnany that reads: “Your account has been locked.”

“We have determined that this account violated the Twitter rules,” it says, “against distribution of hacked materials.”

The policy is reportedly a longstanding one.

McEnany had posted a tweet linking to a fake and quickly debunked New York Post story, one tied to Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, that claims Hunter Biden used his relationship with his father, Vice President Joe Biden, for personal business gain.

The story has been dissected and is provably false, many reporters have noted.

Giuliani has been working with a known Russian agent for at least months.

Here’s the tweet from the Trump campaign highlighting the notice to McEnany:

After being locked out of her personal account McEnany then used her federal government White House Press Secretary Twitter account to falsely claim “censorship.”

Trump’s Youngest Son Barron Also Had Coronavirus – White House Had Claimed He Was Negative

Barron Trump,  the youngest son of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, had COVID-19, even though the White House had told reporters he did not.

“First Lady Melania Trump says she has tested negative after her covid illness experience and reveals that son Barron was also positive but asymptomatic and has since tested negative,” NBC News’ Kelly O’Donnell reports.

The White House “had told the public Barron Trump did not have covid and officials could have provided an update earlier when he did test positive,” she adds, chastising the administration.

“In one way,” the First Lady writes on the White House website, “I was glad the three of us went through this at the same time so we could take care of one another and spend time together. He has since tested negative.”

“I am happy to report that I have tested negative and hope to resume my duties as soon as I can,{ she also says. “Along with this good news, I want people to know that I understand just how fortunate my family is to have received the kind of care that we did.”

‘I Won’t Do That’: Amy Coney Barrett Refuses to Reveal Her Legal Position on Same-Sex Marriage Law Obergefell

Published

on

Judge Amy Coney Barrett is refusing to say if Obergefell, the law that found same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry was properly decided. Amid questioning from Connecticut Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, Barrett held fast, claiming she has an obligation to not share her legal beliefs.

“I’m asking your legal position judge,” Senator Blumenthal told Judge Barrett. “Not your moral position, not a policy position, not a religious faith position, a legal position. Correctly decided? Obergefell v. Hodges.”

“Senator Blumenthal, every time you asked me a question about whether a case was correctly decided or not, I cannot answer that question because I cannot suggest agreement or disagreement with precedents of the Supreme Court,” Barrett insisted. “All of those precedents bind me now as a Seventh Circuit Judge, and were I to be confirmed, I would be responsible for applying the law of stare decisis to all of them.”

Two conservative Supreme Court justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, on the first day of this year’s Supreme Court term, had no problem revealing their legal opinions on Obergefell, announcing they believe it was wrongly decided. They called legalizing marriage for same-sex couples “a problem” that only the Court can “fix.”

“But your honor,” Blumenthal continued, “think of how you would feel as a gay or lesbian American to hear that you can’t answer whether the government can make it a crime for them to have that relationship. Whether the government can enable people who are happily married to continue that relationship. Think of how you would feel?”

“Well Senator you’re implying that I’m poised to say that I want to cast a vote to overrule Obergefell and I assure you, I don’t have any agenda and I don’t, I’m not even expressing a view and disagreement of Obergefell, you’re pushing me to try to violate the judicial canons of ethics and to offer advisory opinions and I won’t do that.

Senator Cory Booker chastised Barrett on Tuesday over similar refusals.

“You seem to honor the precedents that are enough to protect discrimination against African Americans [and] interracial couples, but you stop on saying that unequivocally about … religious discrimination.”
