Scott Walker Announces: 15th Republican To Run For President, Poised To Be Right Wing Extremist

Scott Walker has just officially thrown his hat in the ring, making sure no one will ever think anything about him is moderate.

Wisconsin Tea Party Republican governor Scott Walker accidentally launched his presidential campaign on Friday, with nine tweets hinting at a run, and one outright stating it. Twitter was forced to admit the errant tweet was not the Walker campaign’s fault, but that was an embarrassing start.

The Walker team has decided to follow up that embarrassment with the official launch this morning, including a ho-hum tweet and a boring video – but one that promises Walker will be a right wing extremist.

The Walker campaign didn’t even bother to embed the video in the tweet, so here it is:

“For too long, they said we had to compromise our principles to win,” the voiceover opens. “Scott Walker showed the path to victory is to run on our principles.”

“Conservative. Bold. Decisive.”

Those principles also include a huge swing to the right, with Walker announcing he supports a constitutional amendment, as Ted Cruz has sponsored, allowing states to ban marriage for same-sex couples, despite the Supreme Court ruling same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marriage.

Indeed, the New York Times this morning notes, “Walker’s strategy is now focused on building a political operation in Iowa and campaigning aggressively there with an increasingly conservative message. He recently endorsed amending the United States Constitution to leave laws blocking same-sex marriage up to each state, and he is preparing to sign Wisconsin legislation that would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except when the life of the mother is in immediate jeopardy.”

The Times adds that Walker “built a national conservative following by crippling public employee unions.”

Walker’s campaign video closes with him using what sounds like Donald Trump’s campaign slogan.

“We can make our country great again,” Walker concludes in the video.

Apparently, making our country great again means busting unions, and banning abortion and same-sex marriage.

Who knows? Trump/Walker 2016? Sounds like a match made in conservative heaven.
