Ted Nugent On Cecil The Lion: ‘God Are People Stupid’ – ‘Story Is A Lie’ And A ‘Joke’

Rocker and NRA board member Ted Nugent weighs in on the tragic killing of Zimbabwe’s Cecil the lion.

Ted Nugent is back, and as usual he’s not shy about sharing his extremist beliefs.

The 66-year old rocker and board member of the NRA took to social media yesterday after a fan asked what he thought of the story of Cecil the lion, who was slaughtered by a Minnesota dentist in Zimbabwe. Cecil was 13 and protected, and was being studied by conservationists. He was also beloved and internationally known, especially to tourists who traveled across the globe to see him.

On Facebook Nugent declared, “the whole story is a lie.”

“It was a wild lion from a ‘park’ where hunting is legal & ESSENTIAL beyond the park borders,” Nugent claimed, ignoring the fact that Cecil is a “he” not an “it,” and lived in the park but was (likely illegally) coaxed outside of the park in order for Walter Palmer to hunt him.

Nugent, who is what conservatives like to call “pro-life,” added, “all animals reproduce every year & would run out of room/food to live w/o hunting.”

He promised, “I will write a full piece on this joke asap,” concluding, “God are people stupid.”

Nugent is no stranger to illegal hunting.

He was filmed for his Outdoor Channel TV show in 2009 shooting and killing a young buck who was attracted by commercial bait, an illegal act. In 2010 he was charged with 11 deer hunting violations. And in 2012 Nugent “signed a plea agreement with federal prosecutors admitting he illegally shot and transported black bear in Southeast Alaska.”

By the way, there’s a rapidly advancing petition on the White House’s website calling for the extradition of Dr. Palmer to face charges in Zimbabwe. Sign it and share it with as many people as you can.
