Thousands were in attendance at today’s Jerusalem gay pride parade when six people were stabbed, reportedly by an Orthodox Jewish extremist wielding a large knife.

The man, who is believed to have been captured by people attending the parade, can be seen in one photograph posted minutes ago to Twitter by Jeremy Sharon, Religious Affairs Reporter for The Jerusalem Post:

UPDATE I: 12:51 PM EDT –

Via Haaretz: “One woman was critically wounded, Magen David Adom emergency services reported, adding that two men were moderately wounded, and another two men and a woman suffered light wounds. All the wounded were about 30 years old.”

UPDATE II: 12:55 PM EDT –

Via BBC: “A police spokesperson told the BBC that the suspect was the same man who stabbed four people at the parade in 2005. Yishai Schlissel, an ultra-Orthodox Jew, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for that attack and was released from prison three weeks ago.”
