Look How Franklin Graham And His Supporters Responded When Obama Called For LGBT Equality In Kenya

Franklin Graham hit Barack Obama for the President’s support of LGBT civil rights while speaking at a press conference in Kenya. And right on cue, his supporters did too.

Franklin Graham suffers from a lack of empathy and a lack of humanity.

The 63-year old son of evangelical Christian icon Billy Graham, reduced now to managing his aging father’s affairs and taking pot shots at presidents and political opponents on social media, attacked President Barack Obama for his LGBT-supportive remarks at a press conference in Kenya this weekend.

Asked about civil rights for LGBT people by a reporter on Saturday, President Obama, respectful of his host’s positions but unequivocal nonetheless, threw his support to “the principle of treating people equally under the law.”

LGBT people, Pres. Obama said, “are deserving of equal protection under the law, and that the state should not discriminate against people based on their sexual orientation.” He added, “I say that recognizing there may be people who have different religious or cultural beliefs.”

For Franklin Graham, that was just too much to bear.

“While visiting Kenya Barack Obama publicly lectured Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta about gay rights yesterday,” Graham wrote on Facebook Sunday morning. “I didn’t know that we were sending our president halfway around the world to promote the gay & lesbian agenda!”

Samaritan’s Purse, Graham’s non-profit, “has an office in Kenya and has worked there many years, and I can tell you that the churches in Kenya know what the Bible says about homosexuality—it is a sin. Sin should not be embraced, but recognized truthfully for what it is and for its serious consequences,” Graham insisted, ignoring the fact that LGBT people in many countries face violence, including rape, and death, just for being LGBT.

“God’s Word says, ‘the wages of sin is death.’ Thankfully though, sin does have a remedy—forgiveness is available through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. As a world leader, the United States of America is now exporting the acceptance of immorality via our president. What will the cost of that be?,” Graham asked rhetorically, not worrying about the unconscionable treatment he and his fellow American Christians have advocated for, promoted, and supported in Africa.

President Obama told the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, “if somebody is a law abiding citizen, is going about their business and working at a job, obeying the traffic signs and doing all the other things good citizens are supposed to do and not harming anybody, the idea that they are going to be treated differently or abused because of who they love, is wrong. Full stop.”

“And, you know, the state does not need to weigh in on religious doctrine. The state just has to say, we’re going to treat everyone the same under the law. And then everyone else can have their own opinions. Alright?”

That was just a bridge too far for the very “Christian” Franklin Graham.

And for his supporters.
