Watch Live Now: NJ Gov. Chris Christie Announces He Too Is Running For President

Watch live as New Jersey’s Chris Christie becomes the 14th Republican to declare they are running for president.

Chris Christie at 11:00 AM EDT will stand in his old high school in Livingston, New Jersey and tell friends, family and supporters he too is running for president.

The unfiltered Republican governor has seen his political fortunes diminish after the nation thought he was a moderate who could cross the aisle to get things done. Hurricane Sandy was his height of popularity, when he was seen shaking hands and traveling with President Barack Obama just before the 2012 elections.

But “Bridgegate” created a major loss of support, and allegations of corruption and mismanagement of hard-fought federal funds for victims of Sandy that were not distributed, along with NJ residents furious that four years later their homes and cities have still not been fully rebuilt have damaged the once-popular Garden State executive.

“In last week’s NBC/WSJ poll, 55% of GOP primary voters said they couldn’t see themselves supporting him — the second-worst percentage here behind only Donald Trump’s 66%,” NBC News reports. “Due to the Bridge-gate scandal and the credit downgrades in his state, Christie’s approval rating in his own state is now at 30%.”
