In Sunday’s “Last Week Tonight,” comedian John Oliver heralds Ireland’s same-sex marriage vote and slams the Catholic Church for its response.
John Oliver packs more funny into 30 minutes than you might ever have thought possible. The HBO comedian Sunday night applauded the people of Ireland’s historic vote supporting same-sex marriage, and took down the Catholic Church for its response to it.
Last week the Vatican Secretary of State, number two in power and stature only to Pope Francis himself, labeled the vote a “defeat for humanity.”
Oliver decided to remind the Vatican that its “victories for humanity include the Crusades, forced adoptions, and running a wildly successful international pedophile exchange program.”
