Dylan Roof has waived extradition to South Carolina, from North Carolina, where he fled after he allegedly shot and killed nine people in a church Wednesday night.
Roof appeared in court and waived extradition. It’s unknown when he will return to Charleston, SC.

PEOPLE reports Roof had “chains on his legs and a bulletproof vest,” as he was led out of the jail at the Shelby, North Carolina Police Department, about 245 miles from the scene of the crime.
