Breaking: McKinney Police Officer Who Drew Gun On Unarmed Teens At Pool Party Resigns

Police Corporal Eric Casebolt, the subject of nationwide scorn after a viral video showed him attacking a teenaged girl, has resigned.

On Friday, McKinney, Texas police officer Eric Casebolt was filmed among a group of teens, out of control. He drew his gun on several Black male teens and wrestled a Black teenaged girl to the ground. None of them were armed, nor did they appear especially threatening to the officer, who was not alone at the scene.

That scene was a pool party.

The attack, captured on video, prompted yet another nationwide debate about excessive police force and violence – especially against Black youth, protests in the McKinney, Texas neighborhood against the white residents who are accused of being uncomfortable with Black teens at the community swimming pool, and other revelations, including possible hate crime violence at the scene.

Moments ago, Police Corporal Eric Casebolt resigned from the force.

“Casebolt had served in the Navy for a decade from 1993-2003. He was an operations specialist for seven years and in the military police for another three years,” Fox 4 reports. “From 2003-2005 he was a highway patrol trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety.”

He reportedly joined the McKinney Police force in 2005. He was the Officer of the Year in 2008.
