Here’s The Joke Ted Cruz Just Told About Vice President Joe Biden Before He’s Even Buried His Son

Comedian and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz just told a joke about the Vice President. Again. This time it’s different.

Saturday night, when Beau Biden died of brain cancer at the age of 46, you might have assumed the entire nation knew him personally if you just took a look at Facebook or Twitter. The mourning and outpouring of support for his father, Vice President Joe Biden, was enormous. Beau, by most accounts, was a strong leader, a kind and empathetic gentleman, and a servant to his nation.

Tomorrow Beau will lie in honor at Legislative Hall in Dover, Delaware. Joe Biden will bury Beau Saturday. President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy.

Ted Cruz, on the stump speaking to fellow Republicans in Michigan this evening, pulled an old joke out of his hat. About Joe Biden.

Chad Livengood, a reporter for The Detroit News, was on hand tweeting Cruz’s speech.

And the “joke.”

Livengood also offered this:

Cruz offered this apology via Facebook tonight:

Think Progress notesCruz has told this joke before, on multiple occasions. (Business Insider described it as “nasty” in March.) Cruz apparently did not feel the need to alter his routine in light of the tragic death of Biden’s 46-year-old son.”
