Watch: Ted Cruz Just Can’t Bring Himself To Deny A Personal Animosity Against Gay People

Watch as Ted Cruz, in a confrontation with reporters, loses his cool and can’t bring himself to say he has no animosity toward gay people.

Before meeting with donors Tuesday at the MCM Elegante hotel in Beaumont, Texas, Ted Cruz sparred with reporters, including one local news anchor from 12 NewsNow. Kevin Steele says he asked Cruz if he had a personal animosity toward gay Americans, after Cruz’s recent comments attacking same-sex marriage and gay people.

“Do you have a personal animosity against Christians, sir?,” was Cruz’s stunning response, as if it were an either/or equation.

The Texas Senator and GOP presidential candidate called Steele’s questions “highly curious,” and added that the news anchor seemed “highly fixated on a particular subject.”

Cruz continued his obfuscation, telling Steele, “I’m a Christian. Scripture commands us to love everybody. And what I have been talking about, with respect to same sex marriage, is the Constitution, which is what we should all be focused on.”

“The Constitution gives marriage to elected state legislatures,” Cruz claimed. “It doesn’t give the power of marriage to a president or to un-elected judges to tear down the decisions enacted by democratically elected state legislatures.”

During that same press conference, as NCRM reported, Cruz suggested gay people should stop advocating for equal rights because of the violence ISIS perpetrates against both gays and Christians.

Ultimately, Cruz just couldn’t bring himself to answer the  simple question.

Editor’s note: It seems there might be some disagreement over Cruz’s refusal to deny animosity at the local TV station. The aired broadcast above and their published story seem to differ.
