David Letterman: Jeb Bush Opposing Same-Sex Marriage Is Like Being Against Women Voting

Watch as David Letterman, in one of his final monologues ever, takes a moment to mock Jeb Bush over same-sex marriage.

David Letterman is certainly enjoying his final week before retiring from “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Monday night the 68-year old Indiana native who has hosted his CBS show for over three decades took a humorous shot at likely Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush.

“Well, like it or not, the presidential campaign has already begun. Jeb Bush. Jeb Bush came out against same-sex marriage. Jeb Bush. Brother of the former president, son of the former, former president came out against same sex marriage. Also came out in favor of the Iraq War,” Letterman quipped.

“He certainly is a different kind of Republican, isn’t he?,” Letterman asked. “Jeb says, Jeb says that if you let gay people get married – this is Jeb Bush now talking – he says if you let gay people get married, next thing you know, women are going to want to vote.”

Of course, Letterman, whose final show airs tonight, was only joking, Bush didn’t really say that, although his views often seem to be pretty old.

For instance, on Sunday, Jeb Bush said he thinks wedding-related vendors should be legally protected from doing business with marrying same-sex couples, called for a “spiritual awakening” like those that brought prohibition and tent preachers, and claimed only traditional marriage can give “children born in poverty” a chance.

Conservatives were not pleased, with one right-wing watchdog group complaining that “the liberal comic took time once again to bash Republicans for their support of traditional marriage.”
