‘The Lowest Bar A Candidate Has Ever Set’: Jon Stewart Mocks New GOP Presidential Race Entrants

Jon Stewart tore apart Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, and Mike Huckabee, all of whom announced this week they are entering the race for the White House.

After two days and three new Republican presidential candidates, Jon Stewart last night decided to take a look at the candidacies of newcomers Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, and Mike Huckabee, and he was not impressed.

Stewart mercilessly mocked all three, and deservedly so, calling their entry the “Road Back To Your Own House.”

“You know at the beginning of the season of that ‘Big Brother’ show, before they vote all the crazy people out who you know are never gonna win?” Stewart asked. “That’s where we’re at in the Republican presidential race.”

He took Fiorina apart for claiming she should be president because she more than anyone else knows how the economy works. As “The Daily Show” host pointed out, as HP CEO she laid off 30,000 people, ran the company into the ground, got fired, and left with a $20 million golden parachute. He also took her down a notch for attacking Katie Couric’s totally reasonable question which Fiorina labeled sexist.

Stewart also ran a portion of Ben Carson’s announcement video, including a gospel choir, then launched into video of a lunch Carson had with CNN’s John Harwood.

“Obama, you’ve referred to him as a psychopath. What did you mean by that?” Harwood asked.

“I said he reminds you of a psychopath,” Carson responded, more engrossed in his food than in the conversation.

“That is possibly the most inflammatory thing anyone has ever said while not looking up from a salad,” Stewart quipped.

Mike Huckabee was next on the list of embarrassing GOP candidates.

Stewart pointed out Huckabee’s crazy announcement event, complete with ’70s singer Tony Orlando and boy scouts.

And he mocked Huckabee’s lie that “we’re now threatening the foundation of religious liberty by criminalizing Christianity and demanding we abandon biblical principles of natural marriage,” which Stewart simply labeled, “theocratic demagogagoo.”

Stewart also poked fun at Huckabee’s walk down memory lane as his qualification for becoming president.

“I got my first BB gun at age gun at age 5,” Huckabee announced, “and I never thought about using a firearm to murder someone.”

“That may be the lowest bar a candidate has ever set for their presidential qualifications,” Stewart observed.
