Watch Live Now: Senate Holds Loretta Lynch Hearing And Vote

Watch live now as the Senate begins the process of voting on Loretta Lynch to become the next U.S. Attorney General.

It has been nearly six months since President barack Obama nominated Loretta Lynch as Attorney General.

Yesterday’s passage on an anti-human trafficking bill (with an anti-LGBT discrimination amendment Republicans killed) cleared the way for today’s vote, as Sen. Mitch McConnell had held it hostage.

The Senate has just begun the process to confirm Loretta Lynch as Attorney General. While the vote is expected to be close, thanks to Republican grandstanding, not her abilities or resumé, it is expected she will be confirmed.

Watch live now on C-SPAN as Senators speak about Lynch. They will hold a procedural vote, and then the actual vote, which is expected early this afternoon, possibly around 2:30 PM EDT.

As the vote itself nears, it’s likely the major cable news networks will offer coverage as well.

The New York Times notes “Republicans so far supporting Ms. Lynch are Senators Orrin G. Hatch of Utah, Jeff Flake of Arizona, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Susan Collins of Maine and Mark S. Kirk of Illinois.”
