This Video Of The NYPD Forcing Their Way Into A Woman’s Apartment Will Leave You Shaking

Several New York City police officers were filmed barging into a woman’s apartment with no warrant and possibly without legal justification.

This video is stunning.

It details what happened after several women on Thursday afternoon opened the door to the NYPD, although during they video they say the cops threatened them, forcing them to do so.

It’s unclear the actual reason why the police officers so desperately wanted to not only enter but search the apartment. They claim they were looking for “a felon who’s fleeing from us,” but they certainly did not seem to be in a rush. The popular website Animal New York labeled the cops’ claim “a lie.”

These officers did not witness a suspect run into this woman’s house, even admitting moments later that they “were told he is here.” The only way an officer can enter someone’s home is they have immediate or continuous pursuit which they clearly don’t.

These women should be applauded for their quick thinking and for making it very clear the officers were not invited in, nor were they welcome.

Of course, since we’re not attorneys, we should probably say it’s entirely possible the police officers had every reason and legal right to do what they did, but that’s for a court or legal experts to decide. Hopefully an external investigation will be made. Frankly, I have no idea how these actions could be legally supported. They certainly should not be held up as proper police behavior, not by any means, and yet the cops acted as if they were untouchable. (See below for more of these types of actions by the NYPD.)

The website Photography Is Not A Crime (PINAC), which originally posted a story about the video and the encounter, states that one of the women filming “reported on Facebook that her original video was removed,” by Facebook, “which is why we reposted it on Youtube.”

At the end of the video, as the police officers leave, one of them says if they’re upset, “you can sue.” They thank the women for their “cooperation.”

“We didn’t cooperate,” they respond.
