Pat Robertson: President Hillary Clinton Would Take America Back To The 1950s

Televangelist Pat Robertson says if Hillary Clinton wins the White House, she will take America back to the ’50s. Isn’t that what the Republicans want to do with America? Why is he complaining?

In what might be interpreted as yet another clear sign that his family, which runs CBN, might want to consider exercising some greater control over the octogenarian’s commentary, Pat Robertson today warned his viewers that if Hillary Clinton is elected president, she will take America back to the 1950s, or the 1970s. He wasn’t sure which.

Curiously, Republicans and the religious right generally seem to hold the 1950s as a United States utopia, with women mostly staying home taking care of their husbands and children, and having more children, so it’s unclear why Robertson would be opposed to a President Hillary Clinton.

“There was a motion picture about a mad scientist who invented a car that took you back to the future,” Robertson announced. “Back to the future, or back to the past, as the case may be. Are we going back to the ’50s? Is that where we want to be? Or in the ’70s? Well it looks like one of the candidates wants to take us back to the future.”

“No one is surprised that Hillary Clinton is once again running for president,” Robertson warned. “She’s been gaffe prone, but she says she’s ready, regardless of what the polls say. She’s got a lot of money built up and a powerful machine to take her back to the future.”

In reality, Robertson might just want to take a look at the polls, which have place Hillary Clinton miles ahead of any possible Democratic challenger, and well ahead of any Republican candidate too.

Real Clear Politics notes Hillary Clinton is a national election is ten points above Rand Paul, nine points above Ted Cruz or Chris Christie, six points above Jeb Bush, five points above Ben Carson, as so on. It does not list a single national poll in which Clinton is losing to a Republican challenger.
