Huckabee, Santorum, Perkins, FRC, And NOM Join In Campaign To Pray Away The Gay Marriage

In an unprecedented display of Christian hate, top anti-gay activists are joining together in a national campaign to pray the Supreme Court defeats supporters of same-sex marriage.

Just days before the U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments in landmark cases that will decide the future of marriage and how millions of LGBT people are treated in their own country, America’s top professional anti-gay activists and politicians will join in solidarity to pray against same-sex couples. In turn, they hope, thousands of like-minded, ordinary, everyday Christians will join them in their nationwide prayer, believing that somehow those prayers will not only reach all nine Supreme Court justices, but convince them to destroy the lives of millions of their fellow citizens who are just working hard to raise families and live together with the same rights and responsibilities those so-called “Christians” were granted by virtue of their birth, and which daily they take for granted.

Likely Republican presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum will appear in a short film narrated by Family Research Council president Tony Perkins, and produced by Santorum’s Christian EchoLight Studios film production company. On Sunday, April 26, “Religious Freedom at Risk,” will be shown to what Perkins hopes is the FRC’s “entire network of Watchmen pastors and their millions of church members” during FRC’s Watchmen on the Walls’ group’s Stand for Marriage Sunday.

The film, which is mostly stock footage and news clips, warns Christians are becoming unable to practice their faith, because of same-sex marriage. In the preview video, below, Perkins, quoting an FRC commissioned poll, falsely states “the majority of Americans continue to believe that marriage should be between one man, and one woman,” – ignoring almost every single reputable poll over the past five years. 

And he points to the few cases of wedding photographers and cake bakers who have violated nondiscrimination ordinances, claiming they have received crushing fines.

The Stand for Marriage Sunday website also points to FRC’s 21 days of prayer and fasting, and the National Organization For Marriage’s March For Marriage, scheduled for Saturday, April 25.

Right Wing Watch, which first reported on the film, notes it suggests gay marriage violates separation of church and state.
