‘Time For All Faggots And Dykes To Die’: Man Sends Letter He Claims Has Anthrax To Iowa Bar

A popular Iowa gay bar was the recipient of a letter containing a hate-filled message and white powder, which it claimed was anthrax.

An Iowa man is under arrest today, thanks to an anonymous tip. 49-year old Eric Reece Wiethorn was arrested Thursday for first-degree harassment by the Des Moines Police Department. Wiethorn reportedly admits he sent The Blazing Saddle, a popular Des Moines gay bar, a letter that contained a white powder which the letter said was anthrax.

“It’s time for all faggots and dykes to die on Capitol Pride night!,” the letter, addressed to “The Flaming Faggot and Dyke bar” reads.

“Your secret enemies are going to blow up your destination for going to hell tonight, and were [sic] going to eat roast queer the following morning,” the missive continued.

“This is your punishment for sinning against God, and hopefully you’ll die from the anthrax on this letter!,” it concluded.

The Des Moines Register reports officials were called and “determined the powder was harmless.”

The Blazing Saddle posted a photo of the letter to Twitter before handing it over to the police.

Chris Pullen, one of the bar’s owners, told WHO-TV that if Wiethorn’s attempt was to scare them, it didn’t work.

“Stop being stupid,” he says. “It’s 2015.”
