Watch: Barney Frank Says Aaron Schock Should Be ‘Exposed’

In a new interview, former Congressman Barney Frank shares his views on Aaron Schock and hypocrisy.

Barney Frank, who served in the U.S. Congress 32 years, says that Aaron Schock should be “exposed” if he is gay. The 74-year old former Congressman spoke with ABC News and in an interview published today, explained his views on outing anti-gay politicians.

“When you are in public office and you vote opposite to the way you live your life, no I don’t think you have privacy,” Frank said. “Anyone who is gay and votes in an anti-gay fashion has, it seems to me, lost their right to privacy, because it’s been converted to a right to hypocrisy.”

“Any public official who lives one way and votes another ought to be exposed.”

Politico notes that “Schock has flatly denied being gay, and his father, Dr. Richard Schock, raised the issue of his son’s sexuality this week in an interview with ABC7 Chicago.”

The FBI and federal prosecutors are now investigating Rep. Schock, who resigned in disgrace this week amid growing financial questions.

Congressman Frank is the author of a new book, Frank: A Life in Politics from the Great Society to Same-Sex Marriage.
