Ted Cruz 2016 Announcement Spurs Mockery With #TedCruzCampaignSlogans And Parody Video

Within hours of Ted Cruz announcing his official bid for the White House via Twitter, his detractors have had a good time mocking the Texas Senator’s candidacy.

Just past the stroke of midnight, Ted Cruz posted an announcement on Twitter: “I’m running for President and I hope to earn your support!”

It was one-hundred percent expected. The 44-year old Tea Party Texan had “leaked” the news on Friday, and in case he thought no one got the message – or cared – he had hinted on Twitter “there will be some news you won’t want to miss” hours earlier, like an insecure child afraid they’re as unloved as they feel.

With or without the early twitter announcement – Cruz’s official official announcement is this morning at a far right Christian Evangelical university – Cruz’s detractors were hard at work, having fun mocking him.

Cruz’s original video starts with him saying, “It’s a time for truth.”

Australia-based video parodist Hugh Atkin one-upped Cruz, as Dave Weigel at Bloomberg reported, with this epic response, apparently using Cruz’s own words:

Meanwhile, Twitter’s netizens are having some fun at Cruz’s expense, showing exactly how much of the nation, at least on Twitter, thinks of the freshman senator. #TedCruzCampaignSlogans is trending on Twitter:
