House Mom Of Oklahoma Frat Shuttered For Racist Chant Says The ‘N’ Word Repeatedly On Video
The house mother for members of a University of Oklahoma fraternity who were caught singing a racist song was caught on camera displaying her version of adult supervision.
Yesterday, University of Oklahoma President David Boren shuttered the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and ordered all members to vacate the house by tonight after a video surfaced showing them singing a racist chant.Â
The SAE House Mother, 79-year old Beauton Gilbow, told a local Oklahoma news station she was “in shock” when she learned of the racist video. “Never heard the song” the frat members were singing on the bus, she added.Â
Gilbow was asked, “Did you ever get any indication that there was anything like this going on?,” to which she replied, on camera, “No. No, no, no, no, no.”

But here’s Gilbow herself saying the “N” word repeatedly in a Vine. She is singing to “Trinidad James’ ‘All Gold Everything,’ though instead of lyrics, she laughs while saying the slur seven times, in what seems to be a crude hip-hop sing-along,” Mashable reports.

Student newspaper The Oklahoma Daily “identified Gilbow by comparing the Vine to her GoFundMe page, which was created to raise funds for her after Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s closure resulted in her sudden joblessness. The campaign page has since been taken down.”
Meanwhile, another person who is now jobless is SAE’s full-time cook. Howard Dixon has worked at SAE for 15 years. He is African-American, and says the frat members were his “family.”Â
“I think that was kind of stupid and selfish for them to do something like that,” Dixon said. “And knowing this is an organization, and knowing this is an organization that’s supposed to be about brotherhood. That wasn’t no brotherhood.”Â
There is a GoFundMe page created for Dixon, set up by an SAE alum, Talking Points Memo reports. It currently has taken in over $40,000.
