Anti-Gay GOP Lawmaker Accused Of Hitting Ex-Wife With Car – Twice (Video)

An anti-gay Tennessee lawmaker has been accused by his ex-wife of hitting her with the door of his car, twice.

Gina Hensley is the ex-wife of Tennessee Republican State Senator Joey Hensley. She says that last month, as she was moving into a new home, her ex-husband showed up accusing her of taking items from their home that were his.

“Joey put his vehicle in reverse and hit me with the door, knocking me (sideways),” she said, according to an order of protection. “I yelled out, ‘Stop Joey, you are going to run over me.'”

The former Mrs. Hensley says she has witnesses to the event.

“I have three witnesses that saw the event,” she said. “Their statements are on file at the sheriff’s department.”

Sen. Hensley disagrees and says that he did not hit his ex-wife with the door of his vehicle.

Hensley, in response to his divorce, filed a bill that would have a judge distribute marital property. He says he cannot benefit from this bill as his divorce has been finalized.

KnowNews.com reports that Hensley’s “bill is SB812, filed in the Senate Feb. 11, according to the legislative website. The House companion bill was filed a day later by Rep. David Hawk, R-Greeneville, who was convicted of reckless endangerment in 2013 following an altercation in 2012 with his ex-wife.”

Also in February, as NCRM reported, Sen. Hensley filed an bill that would allow anti-gay discrimination at public colleges and universities, allowing student mental health practitioners to refuse to treat LGBT people based on their interpretation of their chosen religion.

SB 397 “prohibits public institutions of higher education from disciplining or discriminating against a student in a counseling, social work, or psychology program because the student refuses to counsel or serve a client as to goals, outcomes, or behaviors that conflict with a sincerely held religious belief of the student.”

Hensley, a medical doctor, in 2012 ushered an infamous “Don’t Say Gay” bill through a Senate committee. He also has been a champion of stopping local water districts from adding fluoride to water.
