‘Unintelligent’ And ‘Ignorant’: Dolce & Gabbana Launch New Attack On Elton John
Dolce & Gabbana are continuing their attacks against the Elton John, who is calling for a boycott against them.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are facing a humongous backlash after the fashion design powerhouse team saw fit to attack same-sex families and children born via in vitro fertilization as unnatural and not real. While the two issued statements explaining their beliefs and claiming they were not being critical or judgmental of anyone else’s beliefs about parenting or what constitutes a family, in reality they have continued their attacks, now repeatedly targeting Elton John.
“The only family is the traditional one,” the design duo and former couple told Panorama magazine. “No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”
That claim is supported by the design team’s recent fashion theme. In January they posted the above image to Facebook, adding, “The Family is our point of reference.”
Singer-songwriter Elton John, who has two children conceived via IVF, had called for a boycott of the iconic fashion label, earning the immediate support of powerful celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Ricky Martin, Courtney Love, and Ryan Murphy, among others.
Over the weekend and through today, meanwhile, Stefano Gabbana has been waging a curious war on Elton John, first labeling him a “fascist” for condemning Dolce & Gabbana‘s anti-gay remarks, then ramping up the hostility by calling all their opponents “racist dictators,” and even posting as of this writing 54 posts to Instagram. Those posts highlight the comments of their opponents, in an apparent attempt to appear victimized.
And now, despite his claims of believing in “freedom and love,” and “in democracy and the fundamental principle of freedom of expression that upholds it,” Stefano Gabbana has issued another attack on Elton John.
“I didn’t expect this,” the 52-year told Italian website Corriere della Sera today. “I didn’t expect this, coming from someone whom I considered, and I stress ‘considered,’ an intelligent person like Elton John. I mean, you preach understanding, tolerance and then you attack others? Only because someone has a different opinion? Is this a democratic or enlightened way of thinking? This is ignorance, because he ignores the fact that others might have a different opinion and that theirs is as worthy of respect as his.”
Asked, “Have you heard from him after this?,” Gabbana responded, “That would be useless! It’s an authoritarian way of seeing the world: agree with me or, if you don’t, I’ll attack you. I even posted the word ‘Fascist!’ on his Instagram.”
And continuing his claim that he should have the freedom to speak his mind while denouncing those who do, Gabbana, playing the victim, added, “What I see, particularly online, is a lot of gay people who are homophobic: gay people who will attack other gay people who express ideas that are different from theirs.”
Meanwhile, the story has been trending on Twitter and Facebook:

So Dolce & Gabbana said “it was never our intention to judge other people’s choices.” ……. #syntheticchildren

How are Tea Partiers going to afford Dolce & Gabbana when they can’t even afford spellcheck for their signs?

Frankly, I find @dolcegabbana clothes tacky anyway. Billboards for an oversized logo. #myKidWontWear #lgbt

Dolce&Gabbana’s remarks go beyond the gay community. They’re actually condemning infertile people and single parents too. It’s intolerable.
