Watch: Jon Stewart Unleashes Epic Take Down Of Fox News’ ‘Angry War For Ideological Purity’

Watch as Jon Stewart takes Fox News’ attacks on him and challenges the conservative channel to a “lie-off.”

Wednesday night Jon Stewart felt forced to respond to Fox News’ attacks against “The Daily Show.” The conservative channel, upon learning Stewart is leaving after 16 years, claimed he has not been a force for good and that he has used deceptive tactics to not tell the truth.

He then played a clip of Fox News host Megyn Kelly claiming Stewart’s show “had no foothold in the facts.”

So Stewart challenged Fox News to a “lie-off,” playing a six-second Vine containing 50 snapshots of Fox News mischaracterizations:

Then Stewart went to the heart of the issue.

“On the right, they’re pretending that our truthfulness is what’s really important to them, which ironically is not true,” he said. “What matters to the right is discrediting anything that they believe harms their side.”

Exposing their “chronically angry war for ideological purity,” he slammed conservatives’ claims that we’re seeing the collapse of civilization, noting how the right has been winning on so many issues.

“Fifteen states have approved voter ID laws in the absence of any meaningful evidence of voter fraud, an Oklahoma state House committee voted to ban AP history for not sugarcoating slavery enough, abstinence is approved sex-education, and scientific fact isn’t reported now – it’s debated,” Stewart charged. “Let’s stop pretending that these concessions to the right will at any point sate the beast.”
