People in the Heart of Dixie will get to see this beautiful and loving same-sex family talking about same-sex marriage on TV.
In a gorgeous 30-second spot, Freedom To Marry has made the case for same-sex marriage in Alabama. While two federal rulings recently struck down the marriage discrimination bans, those are on hold and the State has already appealed them to the 11th Circuit.
Meanwhile, Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore has warned neither he nor his judiciary will honor federal law on same-sex marriage, calling it “tyranny!,” setting up a possible constitutional crisis. And Alabama’s governor is arguing that same-sex marriage cannot be allowed because incest and polygamy laws are necessary and help define different-sex marriage.
“Families like Jessica & Chi in our ad deserve respect – and they deserve their constitutional rights,” say Freedom To Marry. “We are not going to leave Alabama, or any family, or any state out. But we can only finish the job in Alabama and the remaining non-marriage states with your help.”
