Fox News contributor and Tea Party thought leader Erick Erickson Saturday night made his beliefs about the President’s faith crystal clear.
Erick Erickson Saturday night attacked the President’s faith, via Twitter.
That tweet was immediately followed by another, with a link to Erickson’s moderately-trafficked website, RedState:
On Redstate, Erickson several weeks earlier had written, “Barack Obama is not, in any meaningful way, a Christian and I am not sure he needs to continue the charade. With no more elections for him, he might as well come out as the atheist/agnostic that he is.”
Erickson concluded that post with this attack:
“I know I’m a sinner. I know I cannot save myself. I have no doubt that Christ is the only way. It’s not that I’m right, but that Christ is right. So, Mr. President, get off your own high horse.”
Erickson’s attack came on the heels of a Washington Post article earlier Saturday, in which Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker responded “I don’t know,” to a reporter who had asked if the President is a Christian. That comment followed a week of his fellow Republican presidential hopefuls, starting with Rudy Giuliani, insisting Obama does not love America and is not a patriot.
At issue, of course, is not Obama’s faith, but rather, that once someone declares their faith, and refers to it – as the President has done – claiming they are not that faith, or somehow have not passed some undeclared test, is the height of arrogance and offense.
Earlier in the week, Erickson had compared gay people to ISIS, saying they are essentially the same, except for the killing.
