‘1 Man, 1 Woman, Married For Life’: Duck Dynasty Dad Gets Free Speech Award, Rants About STIs

Phil Robertson this afternoon was given a free speech award at a conservative conference, so he ranted about same-sex marriage and STIs.

At the Conservative Political Action Convention (CPAC) this afternoon, Phil Robertson was given a free speech award for the crude, caustic, ignorant, homophobic, and racist comments he made in 2013. The Duck Dynasty dad proceeded to lecture the audience on his religious sexual morality beliefs, culminating with the warning, “You want a godly, biblical, medically safe option? One man, one woman, married for life.”

The 68-year old reality TV star was given the Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award from the infamous group Citizens United. Ironically, Andrew Breitbart was a supporter of LGBT civil rights.

“I hate to admit I got my facts from the CDC the day before yesterday, 110 million, 110 million Americans now have a sexually transmitted illness,” Robertson schooled the crowd.

“I don’t want you, America, to get sick… I don’t want you to become ill. I don’t want you to come down with a debilitating disease. I don’t want you to die early. You’re disease free and she’s disease free, you marry, you keep your sex right there. You won’t get sick from a sexually transmitted disease.”

Robertson then proceeded to blame “sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll” for America’s sexually transmitted infections problem.

“There is a penalty to be paid from what the beatniks, and it morphed into the hippies — you say, what do you call the 110 million with the sexually transmitted illness — it is the revenge of the hippies! Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll have come back to haunt us in a bad way.”

“You want a godly, biblical, medically safe option? One man, one woman, married for life,” the Duck Dynasty patriarch told the crowd. “And if you hate me because I told you that, I told you my love for you is not contingent on how you feel about me. I love you anyway. I don’t want to see you die early or get sick. I’m trying to help you, for crying out loud. America, if I didn’t care about you, why would I bring this up?”

Watch:

Jeb Bush, one of the higher-profile speakers of the day, was initially scheduled to follow Robertson, but NRA head Wayne LaPierre was wedged in at the last minute.
