The man in the viral video who supposedly was “delivered” into heterosexuality says he was not.
Last November Andrew Caldwell became a viral sensation, after a video of him supposedly being converted from being gay to straight was posted to YouTube by his church, as evidence of the power of God.
“I’m not gay no more, I am delivered,” he said in the video, after his preacher supposedly magically transformed his very being. “I don’t like mens no more, I like women, women, women.”
But, as it turns out, Caldwell is still attracted to men.
Caldwell contacted a Richmond, Virginia TV station to clear the air.
“Was this some type of comedy routine or were you serious?,” WWBT asked Caldwell on camera.Â
“I was serious,” he replied. “I did not want to go viral. I did not expect that to go viral. I did not want to get up there and just say anything and look crazy in front of thousands of people.”
Caldwell says he went on stage that day last year because he “needed prayer that day. I needed so much prayer.”
But, as people who have turned to religion to change their sexual orientation know, you can’t.
“They think that they can preach the homosexuals away in the Church of God in Christ,” Caldwell said. “And you can’t.”
WWBT wanted to make sure.
“So this notion of you saying you were delivered there on the spot…that is not the case?” they asked.
“No,” said Caldwell. “That’s not the case…I still have desires.”
He also has regrets. Caldwell says, “my life has been in danger.”Â
WWBT showed a photo of Caldwell’s battered face.
“That video caused a lot to me…mentally and physically… I feel that, if I was delivered, God should deliver me more. But I know it takes a process. But I think it is going a little bit slow. I want God to work on my mannerisms. I want God to stop the switching…talking like a woman.”
But a walk through Caldwell’s Facebook page shows he hasn’t given up religion, or his desire to become heterosexual. Earlier today he posted a photo of himself he said was taken at the gym, where he says he’s getting his body in shape “for the ladies.”
He asks his facebook friends, “please do not judge me for my past we all have a past…and how can you judge someone you don’t even know them.”
