Watch: French TV Mocks ‘Fox News Clowns Barbie And Ken’ For False Reports About Paris

A French TV show took Fox News reporters to task over their lies about Paris and the French people in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attack.

“Le Petit Journal,” a French TV show similar to Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show,” mercilessly mocked Fox News host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and journalist Nolan Peterson, who claimed that areas of France are just like terrorist-laden parts of Iraq, India, Kashmir, and Afghanistan.

“Our doubts about the truthfulness of the words of this specialist” host Yann Barthès said, “appeared when Barbie and Ken, the specialist on France, used the opinion poll” from last year that had already been debunked long ago by the Washington Post.

But the “credibility of the Fox News clowns disappeared when they showed a map of Paris with some ‘no-go zones’,” Barthès mocked, as his audience gasped at the areas Fox claimed were dangerous and only for Muslims. “It seems some here know Paris,” he explained.

And so “Le Petit Journal” staff were sent onto the streets from the control room, donning helmets in jest, to interview people on the streets of these supposedly dangerous areas Fox News warned about.

They asked people on the street how they would “characterize” their neighborhood.

“Inexpensive, sympathetic,” one man told them. “That’s all, really. I go shopping here.”

“There are Jews, Arabs, Chinese, Christians, Atheists, everything,” responded another.

“Nice, warm, working class,” said two men at a cafe. “Multicultural,” said a man outside on the street. Three teens called it “pleasant to live here.”

Totally debunking Nolan Peterson’s claim that people are out wearing Osama bin Laden tee shirts, one man said he had never seen that in his neighborhood.

Asked if their neighborhood can compare to Iraq or Afghanistan, two women responded, “No, no,” as did a waiter in another part of Paris. A green grocer said, “No, not at all, we are in France.” Another woman called the claim “ridiculous.” And finally, one woman laughed and said, “Your question is stupid.”

Meanwhile, in a separate episode, Barthès said he contacted Fox News to tell them their reporting about Paris was wrong. Fox News, according to the video below, told Barthès, who is in Paris, “Verify your information. You are wrong about no go zones in France.”
