Obama: ‘I’m Hopeful Supreme Court Comes To The Right Decision’ On Same-Sex Marriage (Video)

Watch as President Barack Obama says the U.S. Supreme Court should allow all same-sex couples across the nation to legally marry.

The President as promised today sat down with three of the biggest YouTube personalities to discuss current events after Tuesday’s highly-successful State of the Union address.

Among the three interviewers was “The Queen of YouTube,” GloZell Green, a comedian whose YouTube channel boasts more than 3.3 million subscribers.

Asked about the Supreme Court legalizing same-sex marriage, the President said he and his administration have “done a lot to push” same-sex marriage along.

My hope is that they go ahead and recognize what I think the majority of people in America now recognize, which is two people who love each other and are treating each other with respect, and aren’t bothering anybody else, why would the law treat them differently?” President Obama told Green. “Why? There’s no good reason for it, and so as a consequence I’m hopeful the Supreme Court comes to the right decision.”

The president added that “people’s hearts have opened up on this issue,” although he did call same-sex marriage a “lifestyle choice.”

“As far as me personally,” the President continued, “just to see all the loving gay and lesbian couples that I know are great parents and great partners, the idea that we would not treat them like the brothers and sisters that they are that doesn’t make sense to me.”
