UPDATED: Refusing Louisiana, Supreme Court Again Takes Up No Marriage Cases

The U.S. Supreme Court Monday morning declined to add any new marriage cases to its docket.

After Friday’s secret closed-door meeting of all nine Supreme Court justices, they announced no new marriage cases would be added to their schedule, but left the door open for an announcement this morning. And once again, the justices have refused to take up any new marriage cases, despite a disagreement among appellate courts.

The Court did specifically decline a writ of certiorari – declined to review – the Louisiana marriage case of Robicheaux v. George, as expected.

SCOTUSblog notes the Court “may indicate later in the day when it may next consider four same-sex marriage cases from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit,” so stay tuned.

UPDATE – 12:05 PM EST:

Buzzfeed’s Chris Geidner confirms that cases from Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee – the four states in the 6th Circuit, which upheld a Michigan ruling supporting the right of states to ban same-sex couples fro marrying – will again be considered Friday at another SCOTUS meeting.
