Local GOP Vows To Defeat Any Republican Who Supports Giving ‘Special Rights To Homosexuals’

A local Texas Republican Party is promising to defeat any “rascals” who won’t get rid of San Antonio’s nondiscrimination ordinance.

In yet another example of just how divided the Republican Party is, the Bexar County Republican Party has issued an ultimatum: Every member must vote in favor a resolution to repeal their “local governments’ pro-homosexual policies.” If they do not, the Bexar County GOP will urge “voters to ‘throw the rascals out’ and elect officials who WILL carry out the resolution.”

Out in SA reports that last year the San Antonio city council passed a nondiscrimination ordinance that the GOP says “uses taxpayer dollars” to, “Allow men to freely use the women’s restroom, locker rooms and changing facilities,” “Gag any city board or commission member from speaking against homosexual behavior or be subjected to the removal from the group,” and “Subject businesses run by people of faith to criminal penalties and expensive lawsuits if they refuse to provide services that conflict with religious beliefs relating to homosexual behavior.”

The GOP would like to see that disappear.

The resolution,” Out in SA adds, “also seeks to roll back domestic partner benefits to city and county employees because they give ‘special rights to homosexuals’ and because the benefits dishonor traditional marriage.”

Raw Story reports the resolution “notes that ‘the Platform of the Republican Party of Texas declares homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nation’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.'”
